AWANA CLUBS: Awana is an international, Bible-centered children’s and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs, programs, and training for students in preschool through high school. The acronym is based on 2 Timothy 2:15, Approved Workmen Are Not Afraid.
The goal of Ferguson Road Baptist Church is to minister to children preschool through sixth grade and their families through the Awana club. The club will meet at the church on Sunday nights beginning after the start of the new school year. Each club session is broken down into three areas:
- Counsel Time – This is a time of group Bible study with an age appropriate life-application to make the Bible lesson practical. It is during this time that the awards are distributed to those who have recited verses and passed milestones in their books (see below).
- Book Time – This is the time when the child recites all of the verses he or she has memorized during the previous week in order to accumulate credit for prizes.
- Game Time – The Awana program stresses activity and game time is fun and active. In fact Awana International sponsors an Awana Olympics every year for churches that chose to send students to participate.

UPWARD SOCCER : Upward is an evangelistic sports ministry specifically designed for kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in every child.
While the focus of Ferguson Road Baptist Church this year will be strictly on soccer, within the next year we will add cheerleading and flag football.
